When it’s time for furnace replacement

Your gas furnace is your best friend who takes care of you during the long Canadian winters, it will heat your home. Unfortunately, this friendship is costly, as heating and cooling account for more than 60% of your household electricity usage. It is important to choose the best unit which is both energy efficient and environmentally friendly as possible with quiet operation with today’s energy costs.

The heating component of your HVAC heating system can last up to 15–20 years, depending on the maintenance — including air filter replacement — and occasional repairs.
The most obvious indicator of aging is irregularities on your bill. If your bills are slowly getting higher yet you don’t experience any change in the temperature. It is a red flag if HVAC service people are the most frequent guests in your home. Don’t wait until your HVAC system dies in the middle of winter, leaving you without warm air or any source of heat.

Why is it a good investment to get the best furnace work for you

Thanks to modern technological advancements, such as modulating furnace with variable speed blower motor, new furnaces are designed to have more than 90% efficiency to provide comfort and efficiency. Most of the new furnaces are a type of two stage gas equipment and ENERGY STAR certified. On the other hand, old units (20 year old or older) can be as low as 65%. Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations require minimum 90% annual fuel utilization efficiency AFUE rating for high efficiency furnaces in new installations. The higher price tag on a new furnace can return in savings in a couple of years. The efficiency of a furnace is measured in AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency). The AFUE percentage shows the customer how much of the fuel is converted into heat output energy in the heat exchanger. For example, a new condensing furnace with 97% AFUE rating can convert 97% of the thermal energy generated by burning fuel into heating energy.

Consult with our professional HVAC service providers about replacing your old unit, determining the size and type of your new unit for your central heating system. Most natural gas furnaces can be converted to propane fuel usage in mostly rural homes where natural gas is not readily available. Natural gas or propane is much better for the environment and produces far fewer emissions than oil furnaces.
