Greener Homes Grant
Introducing the Greener Homes Initiative by the Government of Canada
The Greener Homes Grant is designed to empower homeowners in enhancing the energy efficiency of their houses. This transformative program, co-delivered by Natural Resources Canada and Enbridge Gas in Ontario, under the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) program, offers substantial grants to eligible individuals. These grants, which prioritize eco-friendly retrofits like home insulation, windows and doors, heat pumps, and renewable energy systems, can help homeowners save money, create employment opportunities for energy advisors, and combat climate change.
Under the Initiative, homeowners can receive generous grants of up to $5,000, enabling them to recover a portion of the costs associated with eligible retrofits. Furthermore, a maximum contribution of $600 is available to support pre and post retrofit EnerGuide evaluations. Notably, as of January 4, 2023, Ontario residents can apply for both the provincial HER+ program and the federal Canada Greener Homes Grant through the Enbridge Gas Home Energy Rebate Plus program.
To qualify for the Canada Grant, homeowners must provide proof of ownership and demonstrate that their primary residence is the home being retrofitted. Discover the complete list of eligibility criteria and apply for the Canada Greener Homes Grant process on the Enbridge Gas website. It’s important to note that the grant is accessible to all homeowners, regardless of whether they are Enbridge Gas customers.
Excitingly, Enbridge Gas and the Canada Greener Homes Grant have united forces to offer rebates for greener retrofits, such as home insulation, windows and doors, heat pumps, and renewable energy systems. Through the innovative Home Efficiency Rebate Plus program, more Ontarians can now optimize their home’s energy consumption. This news is especially beneficial for Enbridge Gas customers utilizing natural gas for heating, as they can enjoy enhanced rebates of up to $10,000.
As an added incentive, participants can also alleviate the cost of their EnerGuide home evaluation by availing an additional rebate of $600. By embracing the Greener Homes Initiative, homeowners can take significant strides towards achieving energy efficiency and sustainability while contributing to a healthier planet.
